I'm honestly not surprised that there is a lockout. And I think its pretty likely that this will last a while. The owners are lose money by playing, and plus the players had a 57% revenue share _________________

Would be funny to lock this, but maybe too meta. _________________

I'm mostly just glad that the season will happen at all. I haven't seen any of the specifics of the new CBA yet, but as long as it's not a hard cap (or so heavily restricted that it might as well be a hard cap) then I'm okay with it. Back-to-back-to-backs will be tough though. That combined with the long break and short training camp means there may be a whole lot of sloppy games, especially with new teammates. _________________

So who thinks that the New Orleans Hornets may be on the way out due to the rejected three way trade, supposed to send Chris Paul to the Lakers? CP3 has stated he wants out of New Orleans, and David Stern stated that due to "basketball reasons" (since the NBA technically owns the team), he wished to keep Chris Paul with the Hornets. |

They should just contract the Hornets, but they won't because Stern has always said one of his proudest parts of his tenure is that they've never contracted a team. He totally fucked up yesterday though. If I were Chris Paul I would retire in protest. Dude's got enough money to live on, right? Worst case scenario there would be sitting out a year or two, getting healthier, then coming back to play. _________________

So is it fair to say that Kobe Bryant is the best player in the league this year? _________________

Look at their schedule. They haven't played anyone good at all except Portland and New York (and they lost both). They've just been blowing out all of the bad teams in the league.
Here's Philly's schedule:
Portland (loss)
Phoenix
Utah (loss)
Golden State
New Orleans
Detroit
Toronto
Indiana (w/out Danny Granger) - Best win
Sacramento
New York (loss)
Washington
Washington again
Milawaukee (in progress, winning).
Later this week, they play Denver, then Atlanta and Miami back-to-back. Let's see how they do against 3 good teams in a row before saying that they're good.
@GuitarGeek: He's scored a lot of points the last few games, but I'd be astonished if he can keep that up. Heck no one can keep that up, especially not a 15-year veteran with creaky knees (and a lingering wrist injury) in a compressed season. Kobe is playing 37.7 minutes per game, which is ridiculous. He's actually 8th in the league in minutes per. Look who's ahead of him
1) Kevin Love
2) Luol Deng
3) Monta Ellis
4) Blake Griffin
5) Marc Gasol
6) Dwight Howard
6) Jarrett Jack
8) Kobe Bryant
Notice anything? The other big minutes guys are all much younger. Jarrett Jack is 28, but who really cares about anything the Hornets do. Deng and Howard are both 26 and in fantastic shape. Kobe isn't going to keep playing this many minutes, and he's not going to keep scoring this many points.
The other thing is, if you look at PER instead of just scoring, Kobe is currently third in the league, behind Manu Ginobili (5 games before injury) and Lebron.
Kobe is fantastic, and if you had to pick someone to win one game he might be the best choice, but over the course of a season and playoffs he's not the best player in the league anymore. _________________

Meanwhile the Knicks have just had a brutal schedule so far besides a few easy teams. I'm happy they're able to stay close to .500 to be honest. XD _________________

AND the fact the Knicks haven't had Stoudemire or Anthony during this 4 game win streak. Amar'e comes back for Tuesday's game, and Anthony should be back in a week or so. The Knicks really could be a big threat if Lin could keep up this play with the big men on the floor. _________________
