Metallica - Kill 'Em All
What can I say. It's a just a fun, straightforward, oldschool thrash metal record all the way through. _________________

Rise Against - The Sufferer and the Witness for sure. I've listened to Appeal to Reason and Siren Song a bit, and each song I liked, but I still have to listen to the rest. Let's just say I'm having a hard time finding a hard time finding a song by these guys I DON'T like
King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King. Alright, this album is a masterpiece. 21stCSM is a blast all the way through, TCOTCK is one of my favorites on the album, ITTTW has a beautiful flute playing in the song that I remember for the rest of the day after hearing it, Epitaph is the most moving and emotional song I've ever heard, and Moonchild keeps me in a trans-like state during the improv.
I'm really happy I decided to look up Schizoid Man in class that day
Slayer - Seasons of the Abyss. This one is good for me. My favorite Slayer album, IMO their best work. The weakest tracks though are Hallowed Point and Blood Red. The rest are awesome (and Dead Skin mask can scare me when I'm in the right mood )
Three Days Grace - One-X. I have a lot to say on this album (including my history with it), but I'll sum it up by saying the title track to this album was the most powerful for me.
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon. I decided to listen to this one night at around 11:30. I was planing to go to bed but then I was like "Alright, let's do this." It was a wild ride. And Breathe is my favorite track.
There's probably more, but none that I can think of right now. _________________

This is funny because among old-school proggers there is a real love-hate relationship with Moonchild. It kinda puts me to sleep but all the better for the title track to wake me up again when it comes storming in. Some of their 70s stuff is more difficult but if you have a chance to hear it (Larks' Tongues, Starless and Bible Black, Red) I think you might like it. _________________

I second this so goddamn hard. These two albums used to be my go-to-albums for quite a while. _________________

I knew that. Some people call Moonchild amazing, some people are indifferent, and even some say that it ruins the entire album for them. The debate on that song is pretty cool; you know, how people interpret it and whatnot.
And yeah, I definitely have to listen to them. Any tracks in particular you recommend? _________________

I listened to Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd for the first time 3 days ago. Before I played it, I knew that people say the album is the best ever and honestly, i thought it was all bandwagonning or hype. I listened to it, and it's one of my favorites now. I wouldn't say it's the best, but over the past 3 days, I've listened to it 3 times all the way through. :P |

Man, I really wanna say Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy. I dunno, I don't DISLIKE Sorry, but I don't like it that much either as a track. _________________

A few albums I enjoy cover to cover nearly every time:
Metallica - Death Magnetic - While I love most of their albums, there is usually a track that doesn't hit me right. I wouldn't call it my favorite Metallica album but it doesn't have a low point that gets in the way.
Rise Against - Siren Song of the Counter Culture - There's a good bit of variety here that I enjoy.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication - While sometimes Porcelain bugs me it generally doesn't get in the way and I can listen all the way through.
Aerosmith - Aerosmith - I'm a big fan of their sound and their debut has plenty of the blues based stuff I love.
Green Day - American Idiot - While radio overplay has hurt my opinion of Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Wake Me When September Ends, I still love the album as a whole and neither hinders the album.
Some honorable mentions
Yes - 90125 - Not a big fan of It Can Happen
Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic - The final track just doesn't work imo |

You'd fit in with everyone I hang out with. They're all super into that djenty shit.
This list will be expanded on further when I get to remembering more things.
Animals As Leaders - Animals As Leaders
Scale the Summit - Monument
Scale the Summit - Carving Desert Canyons
Scale the Summit - The Collective
Protest the Hero - Kezia
Protest the Hero - Fortress
Protest the Hero - Scurrilous
Between the Buried and Me - Colors
Between the Buried and Me - The Great Misdirect
Between the Buried and Me - The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues
Daft Punk - Discovery
Darkest Hour - Undoing Ruin
The Decemberists - Castaways and Cutouts
Dredg - The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion
The Human Abstract - Nocturne
Unearth - The Oncoming Storm
All That Remains - This Darkened Heart
I tend to favor artists that make good albums rather than good songs, and favor them even more when they consistently do so, so that's why it seems like I have extreme fanboyism toward the 3 that have 3 entries.
Considerations:
Eminem - The Eminem Show
Fair to Midland - Anchors & Arrows
Silversun Pickups - Swoon
The Decemberists - The Crane Wife
Wintersleep - Welcome to the Night Sky |
