According to that article Activision has decided to drop Guitar Hero. Not terribly surprising, given the diminishing returns on all of the most recent games. Really sucks.

I don't get it, they have no actual statements stating that they have killed off the franchise, and then go on to put an old statement that said it still does have a future, I say until Activision's announcement I don't really believe a word of it

Eurogamer is trash

Yet this looks like it's true

I'm actually pretty sad- kind of pathetic of me to be honest.

If this does happen...it really wouldn't surprise me. I mean given the sheer amount of games since world tour its natural people lose interest.

Plus Activision handled the franchise badly after WT releasing so many games.

Then again...it could all be bullshittery.

This would be the worst gaming news I have ever heard if true.

Well, Geoff Keighley says there's no GH coming out in 2011. Doesn't completely kill it, but not a good sign.

No Guitar Hero this year is really saddening :/
I hope we at the very least get Band Hero 2?

This is a sad day for rhythm gaming

I hate this, but I can completely see it, all things considered. If Guitar Hero does end today, at least it will have ended at its highest point with WoR.

I always thought Guitar Hero 7 would be the last one. Oh well.

Still, that's pretty sad news. Maybe some other company will buy the brand and continue, but still, that's pretty lame. Even if the music genre sells are weak, it didn't mean the franchise had to die, and FSG/VV employees to be fired.

I guess that's what happens when one franchise has quite a few games in a short period of time and the other one over-saturates the market with too many songs in a short period of time.
