To me, there are two main types of gamers. The casual players, that will either play a game until it gets too tough, or, and this is important, they will play something tough, as long as it's still fun. Then there are the hardcore gamers, those who will try to do everything possible in a game: FC's, secret missions, maxed characters, etc. Sometimes they will get a little carried away, ignoring friends, family, and sleep. I am wondering who here considers themself a gamer that plays a game, not only for the fun of it, but because they refuse to let a videogame have the last word. Sign here if you are, I'm trying to get a comprehensive list of perfectionists, and if you want to post a short list of accomplishments that is acceptable, if not required.

I'm a casual turned perfectionist. I always beat the game casually (like for GH, just run through the songs and try to pass), then go back through afterwards, and on a second run, try to be Mr. Perfect (FC's or 100%'s the entire way). I've really only done this for GH and Sonic games, since those are really the only two games I think I'm really any good at. My general rule is that if the game can be normally beaten in under 20 hours, it's worth it to go back through and be a perfectionist.

Most RPG's are just a "sail right through" affair for me...the only exception so far being FFTA, and even then, it's not TECHNICALLY an RPG. (Final Fantasy Tactics Advance) FFTA had 150 hours logged into it...Marche had almost every single ability mastered (being a Black Mage with Double Sword is pretty damn entertaining to watch), in addition to having about 90% of the weapons in the game.

Final Fantasy VIII:

-All characters at level 99 (or 100, don't remember the max)
-All summons at level 99 (same as above)
-Drawn magic customized to absorb all elemental attacks
-All Triple Triad cards (a star appears next to the cardlist)
-Boko (the Chocobo) max level due to extensive Pocketstationing (I got one just for this game)
-Ultima and Omega Weapon defeated
Basically, I did everything. I'm only a perfectionist if the game interests me enough. I was going for the same 100% on everything in FFX, until my mate accidentally erased my savegame 160 hours in. Haven't touched it since.

For GH I am. For RPGs I try to do all of the side quests and stuff but stat/level maxing is just boring to me.

I like to perfect and 100% my video games as I've done with several of my games.

Spent months of straight ddr playing trying to achieve a perfect score on every song on every difficulty (sans beginner) on DDR Extreme (not to mention max2 as well). Got pretty damn close, but there was no way I was close to AAA'ing Legend of Max on heavy.

Unfortunately, yeah I am a perfectionist. Except for FFX, I totally didn't feel like capturing bajillions of monsters so I could fight 1. And get what, a badge? No thanks.

i would consider myself a perfectionist but not one who plays through a game and tries to get all of the secrets and all that stuff. so based on your definition of a perfectionist i guess im not one.

I'm a super perfectionist when it comes to RPGs. Side quests, max levels, max stats etc.

In other games I like to know I've done everything possible in it, but I won't do some of the other crazy inane things. GH for example, I was satisfied just 5 starring everything, until I found out about this site anyway.
