I got an idea before in class and didn't test it out yet...maybe some of you guys can.
So we know that SPing the breaks in the solo are the key to 5*ing it... But the problem is we can't play it perfect every time like some crazy assholes here. I personally screw up at B RG cause my ring finger wants to play the yellow and that screws it up.
I was thinking try to use a PO for the red and the green. so it's
HO- YRG RYB(321 234), THEN jam the middle and index finger on RG and pull off to play G.
haven't tested it and I can't play for a day or two so maybe you guys can give it a shot. Good luck brothers |

I'm pretty successfully using POs on rg by playing both with my index finger (switching the index finger to red in the scale beforehand).
Still missing 3000 pts to 5* this one though... |

For the YRGRYB RG part, I find it easier to hit if you leave your finger on R, that way when you let go of B, you play R as well and then I just slide up to G. Usually hit it every time doing this. |

when i do the YRGRYB RG part, i strum the YRG, when i get to the G, i hold it for a split second longer than you think you should, then i HOPO the RYB RG part and i usually get this part every time. i works really well. try it out. |

It all depends for me. Sometime my pinky is a bitch and won't work so I have to use 3 fingers, but I generally use 4 fingers. _________________

generally what i do is rest my first 3 fingers on RYB and just shift down to hit green......it felt a little awkward at first, but i hit it 99% of the time now..... _________________

How fast are the Os at the end? I strum as fast as I can and can never get more than 2x.
EDIT: Wow. I was strumming WAY too fast. I thought they were 32nd notes. >_> _________________

I couldn't understand what all this fuss about bigger riff was. I thought, when time comes I need to 5* this song, I just get bigger riff and sp down and I'm good. Well... it's obvious bigger riff is a major hurdle for me too. I can hit 90% of the notes pretty consistently, but can't combo bigger riff. The solo bits actually save me from bigger riff, not the other way.
See... I'm going to need serious practice time and I have already.

Wow, I thought they were 1/32 notes as well, but that would make them just about Trogdor-solo-fast.
But they are 1/24 notes, which is actually just a bit slower than Misirlou. |

Here's a good comparison of the speeds of certain notes:
Misirlou -- bpm is not constant, but is around 100. 8 notes per beat (32nd notes), so 800 notes per minute, which is 13.3 notes/second.
Hangar: sixteenth triplets (6 notes/ beat) at 128 bpm. 12.8 notes/second.
Light that Blinds intro: 32nd notes at 92 bpm. 12.2 notes/second.
Six intro/outro: Sixteenth notes at 202 bpm. 13.47 notes/second
BatH solo: Sixteenth triplets at 155 bpm. 15.5 notes/second
Trogdor: 32nd notes at 130 bpm -- 17.3 notes/second
Texas Flood OSSOD!: 32nd note triplets (!) at a sluggish 58 bpm. 11.6 notes/second.
Breaking Wheel -- The highest bpm in any song I think. These are eighth notes, but around 265 bpm at the highest. 8.8 notes/second. _________________

Yeah I checked some note speeds quickly to get a reference. But that comparison is interesting. And no wonder that part in BatH is a bitch...
But cripes... I played this one quite a lot today. I started getting bigger riff in practice with 21112321 fingering. To keep fretting in sync I pick in two note sequences, PO the first YR, then as index finger has done it's trick with GR I leave it depressing R. I have to really concentrate on hitting Y and B in the middle, but when I do, I usually also get RG with a twitch of a finger and it's good.
Well trying to play the song for score I start losing my focus at those parts and that practiced move is gone from my hands. It's all a blur. I can hit it a few times, but not to really carry any multiplier. I still optimistically use my SP on them. Well, I started nailing some impressive (for me) parts in the solo's and have 270k with 93% now. I thought it was ridiculous, but checking the rankings around me, I'm not alone.
I hate the fact, that the riff doesn't look very impressive but still I can't hit it. More and yet more stats. Then I get 86% on solo 7 which has the bigger riff in it and get 81% on the first bigger riff itself. And solo 7 does look impressive. Luckily I don't get nausea playing this song and when the day comes I get my 5* I have to start practicing PF again.
Venting done, thank you. |

Those are 16th notes at 210 bpm, a strumming speed of 14 notes per second. _________________
