A couple of months ago, I beat I Love Rock & Roll on easy with a one-note streak. I did it for fun. My next goal is to get 100% on that song with only a two-note streak, and you'd be surprised how hard it is.
Have any of you tried to do odd things like this, and if so, what have you 'accomplished'? |

This only halfway fits, but I was working on a 5 star cutoff range, and managed to hit within the 3000 point range or so while getting 100%:

I thought it might be fun to see who can get the lowest score on a particular song. I haven't tried it yet though... I think it would be a challenge to stay as close to failing as you possibly can. _________________

I wonder if anyone has tried to quantify how many notes you can skip before you lose, how much 'health' hitting a note gives you, and so on.
I have noticed that you need to do better than every other note to break even, and strumming when there is no note hurts you more than missing a note. _________________

If that's true, then it would be best to not strum between notes, and just miss the occasional note and only play enough of the notes to barely stay alive in order to minimize your score. _________________

Let's have a little competition. Lowest score on a song by tomorrow. You pick the song. _________________

Lol
I haven't tried it before, but I think when I get the chance the first song I will try is I Love Rock and Roll on Easy... just to try it out. I'm going to predict that there is going to be a minimum score that should be fairly easy to determine.... _________________

Actually, it turns out I have a picture on my cell phone from when I tried to get a low score on I Love Rock & Roll on easy.
Score: 7872
47%, 7 note streak
I could certainly get a lower score than that now, though. My skill has greatly declined since then! I think I'll give that a try tonight. Beats 5-starring texas flood. _________________

This was with no cheats. I hit every note without hitting 2 in a row, and still passed (barely):

How is that possible? When I've tried doing that I noticed:
1) Strumming between notes counts against you more than hitting a note gains you,
so
2) You will eventually fail without using Star Power.
But
3) If you strum before the first note in a star sequence, it will cancel the star sequence and you can't get Star Power from it.
Therefore
4) You can't get Star Power at all
and thus
5) It can't be done.
I'm fairly sure on my logic, so I would love to know where I messed up. In any case, that is exactly what I was asking about when I created this thread, so thanks! _________________

Your #3 is where you messed up. There's a bug in the game where you can double strum before a note comes (such that both your 1st and 2nd strum are before the note's true location but within the allowable timing window). You will get credit for the note from the 1st strum, the 2nd strum will break your streak, but not the Star Power combo. Hence, you can still get credit for SP combo's without hitting two notes in a row. Try it, it works.
Then the star power is just enough to keep your meter alive throughout the song (just barely enough at the end, it looked like I was a single strum from failing).
Note: for the bug to work, both strums must occur before the time when the note is supposed to be played. _________________

Well, thanks for clearing that up. Guess I'll try that.
In other news, I tried for a low score at I Love on Easy and got 6,290. Unfortunately I don't have a means to upload my pictures, so you'll have to trust my Minnesota Niceness.
Edit: And I wouldn't say I messed up, since a bug disproved one of my premises. My logic was sound. _________________

I don't see how it's a bug that strumming where there isn't a note breaks your streak. Makes perfect sense to me. _________________

The fact that it breaks your streak isn't a bug.
But the fact that it does not break the star power combo (only if the extra strum occurs before the note's true location, otherwise it does break the star power combo) is something I would consider a bug. _________________
