This video from IGN explains the Music Creator and demos it.
Link
It says that you can skip around and copy and paste bits using the GHMix thing. It also shows off a couple of songs that have been created by the Neversoft team and that will be shipping on disk. Y and Z sounds absoloutly awesome! _________________

Read the wiki before you jump to conclusions on the song creator.
There are two recording modes, one lets you pick a scale for your guitar and jam while it records. The other lets you place notes. So you really could create a good song that you couldn't play yourself.
Downsides -
Star power placed automatically
hopo determined by the system
Really I don't think 1200 notes and 3 mins will be that much of a limit. 1200 notes is on par with some good songs in gh3, and 3 mins without vocals is pretty long. _________________

I don't know if your comment was directed towards me or not, but if it was, I was AT Neversoft with the rest of ScoreHero when the information for the wiki was gathered. toymachine and I were both there and sat down to mess with the Music Studio and I don't personally recall any options to lay down notes and sounds ala Feedback style. If its there I didn't see it. _________________

The scorehero preview said they couldn't find anything that did that. |

Someone said there was a 1200 note limit in this thread and then someone else quoted him and said "What, so now we have 1200 note limit and 3 minute limit?!"
Is it true or did that quoter just make it up? I need proof.

He's talking about the second part of the music creator that allows someone to do advanced stuff to the song they made like copy and paste notes. I think it's called the advanced studio. _________________

3 minutes is a BIG limit. 95% of the songs in my music library are longer than 3 minutes. And every song I've written besides my mellow, not much guitar songs are more than 3 minutes long. It bums me out because I told people I'd be recreating my songs in GH4, but now I can't unless I water them down heavily. If the note limit and time limit were larger, I'd be completely happy with the program. Right now, I'm "O.K., I can do some stuff with this." _________________

I wish this music creator that's going to be in WT would be as easy as it sounded. _________________

Yes that was aimed at you frankieB. You may have been there, but maybe you should re-visit the wiki again.
From reading the wiki we have a Recording Studio, where it works exactly as you posted. It records based on a few settings, and you just jam. This idea is pretty ridiculous. I'm sure an extreemly talented individual could use this freestyle mode to play a good song. But for the most part it is crap.
After that it details the GH Mix, which provides more options.
Quote: | GHMix is essentially your mixing board where you ... can fine tune the notes you played in the Recording Studio or add in new ones... In here, you can play notes, move notes, copy and paste notes, delete notes and everything in between, |
Now for the record:
Yes, I am disapointed with this music studio.
It sets limits to compensate where better program structure could have created an amazing feature.
3 minutes is about as short as a song could be. And the note limit isn't encouraging either. These are the costs of uploads and downloads of user created songs being free. And in my opinion, the cost is not worth it. I would rather pay for a player created dlc. _________________

First of all, a quick on-topic post.
I think putting a few solos from different songs in a single song would be cool (can you copyright a solo?), I've learnt a few little things on piano that I intead to use, such as the Daft Punk - Aerodynamic solo and the Castlevania Raining Blood thing.
To do with the topic that came up.
We could really use a source for the 3 minute thing, I can't remember where I read it but it must be somewhere, either that or it just started some day and we all took it as fact.
The only thing I can find is this FAKE interview with Brian Bright on Joystiq.
I won't link to the article because it's FAKE and I know how idiotic some people can be.
Basicaly, the article said this:
What Brian Bright didn't say wrote: | Is there a limit to how long a song can be?
Yeah, I think it's either three or four minutes for songs made in the track maker. |
This may be where the three minute limit thing started, but I don't know. Anyone got any other sources on it? _________________
