I keep breaking guitars This is the tape that runs from the batteries to the rest of the guitar on a RedOctane Guitar Controller like this.
Ideas? How to fix this? Is it possible to fix? It's so close to the "tape" that I imagine makes things much more complicated |

You'll need to peel some of the insulation back off that wire (use an exacto knife or similar), and then... yes... horrors, re-solder the wire to the solder point it came off of.

I've been told that I'd have to buy a whole new "strip" so I'm happy to hear that someone else thinks it can be fixed easier. Thanks. |

Do you think that it would be better to remove all 5 wires, then cut back the insulation? Should it be cut back on all 5 wires or just the one? Or would it be better to cut back the insulation on just the one wire while the rest is still attached? |

Given that it's a not moving component, I don't think it really matters all that much. Obviously, just stripping back the single wire and bending it to bring it in contact the the solder point is going to introduce a minimal amount of stress on the rest of the cable, but I doubt that it is really that significant. If you wanted to be extra safe, yes, you would desolder the other 4 pins (being sure to mark which way is UP on the cable!), and then trim the whole ribbon back, and strip all 5 leads so they're even, and resolder all 5.
