So I've never played GH:WT before, but I'm fairly competent with Rock Band (see sig for stats if needed). Later this week I'll have my first chance to play GH:WT, and I definitely want to play through some of the more difficult tunes (Tool, "Anything," "Everlong," etc.), but I want to get a feel for the drum kit first.

Basically what I'm hoping for here are suggested songs to start out with in order to get the hang of the pad/cymbal placement... ideally, songs that move around the kit but are fairly simple rhythmically. Also, any words of wisdom on switching from the RB set to the GH:WT set (if there are any), what level of hyperspeed, etc. would be appreciated.

I play GHWT drums on hard since I got it a week ago, and without Hyperspeed, but I have a thing or two to recommend. The biggest adjustment for me going from RB drums to the GHWT kit was when to hit the Blue and Green pads. Band On The Run was a good song for me to start getting used to hitting those in rhythm with the rest of the song. Some Might Say is also good.

for practise on the pad positions, i think you should play l'via l'viaquez on hard or expert.

the 'slow' sections at the middle and end require u to make pretty much all the different drum combos available

I agree with ^, but would like to add La Bamba. It uses the green and blue pads often (orange too) and the pattern repeats over and over again .

For me there was an initial learning curve and my brain had a lot of "lolwut" moments trying to process 5 colors on 2 levels, but it didn't take long to get over it. I would say just get in there and play the setlist and see how it goes. If not, I would say Parabola is a good choice for doing all kinds of crazy shit but it's not so crazy that it's going to kill you at first (that would be Vicarious ).

i would suggest hotel california. the drums are VERY natural once you start playing them. its almost like playing real drums. they are just more compact.

Figures that my brother hasn't even unlocked half the songs yet. Oh well, I'll have some solo time tomorrow. I tried L'Via for shits and got owned... still getting used to the blue and green placement.

Thanks for the tips.
