|
|
osu! is a free rhythm game which is based on the Elite Beat Agents and Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! games for the Nintendo DS. osu! is primarily played using a mouse to click 'beats' displayed on-screen in time with the music. This is analogous to tapping the beats on the Nintendo DS screen with a stylus. At the top of the screen, a health bar is present, which is constantly drained. If the player hits or clears a beat, the health meter at the top of the screen fills slightly. If he misses a beat, a large part of the meter is drained, and if it gets completely empty, he fails the song. There are three types of beats in the game: Hit circles, sliders and spinners. Every time the player hits a hit circle or an end circle, touch a slider tick, or clear a spinner, the combo is raised by 1. If he misses any of the above, the combo is reset back to 0. While trying to keep an authentic feel gameplay-wise, osu! has a wide range of online features, such as player rankings and replay exchange. Also available is a fully functional built-in editor allowing intuitive creation of your own beatmaps, and a quickly growing library of user-created content.
Q: What's the website?
A: Click the picture above.
Q: I like the DS games, but this is way harder with a mouse!
A: Here are a few tips for improving your playing:
- Get a better mouse
Though the most important thing is that you're using a mouse
you're comfortable with, if all you have is a low sensitivity ball
mouse this game is going to be hard. I'd recommend an optical or
laser mouse with medium/high sensitivity. It may take some
getting used to, but will help you get better and is almost a
requirement for some of the harder songs.
- Try using the keyboard
Instead of clicking, try using the Z and X keys on the keyboard.
Clicking might be easier at first, but a lot of people find z/x easier over
time and you will need it eventually, if you want to get even close to
passing certain songs.

Oh hi.
A very nice OP for this thread BTW. (even though it's Rhythm, not Rythym.)
Anyways, i've been away from scorehero for quite some time playing this game. Good fun. _________________

Oh haha, I didn't even notice the link to my video there the first time I read that.

Yeah, I've quite enjoyed myself with this game for the fast few months. I'm not one for really playing fruits mode, but it has been a nice addition to osu!.
Anyways, I'm a BAT (Beatmap Approval Team)(also i'm currently the top ranked player ^_^), so if anybody has any questions, I'll probably be able to answer them. _________________

Sweet!
Question: When I use the z/x keys while using the mouse my game tends to lag a little, especially during the spinners, but if I just click on the mouse theres no lag at all. Why is it lagging while using z/x? _________________

Lag is such a loose term. You'll have to be more specific.
If i had to guess however, i'd say that the game is skipping frames when you use your keyboard? If i had to guess i'd say your computer is trying to type somewhere else while you play. (especially since you said especially during spinners, which means you have to hold the key down) That's a long shot though. If that's not it, it sounds like more of a hardware issue. _________________

Naw, you got it right on, it skips frames a little. Any way to fix that? _________________

Why does English have to have annoying words like that... fixed.
Also, here is the most epic beatmap ever. Seriously. Why is there no video of this yet? Seems like I have some recording to do.
BTW I'm rank ~400 _________________

I don't like the map OR the song. I find both to be annoying after just half of a play. _________________
