highlights:

I just got back from a special media event where we unveiled Guitar Hero II to some media people, and I gotta tell 'ya, it's incredible. Some of the best players at RedOctane were putting the skill level down to medium, since expert is just insane, and hard is just that. We made it a point to make it even more challenging this time.

You're going to have a practice mode that didn't make it into the first game, where you can learn particular loops. You're going to have a two player mode with different difficulties for players of varied skill levels.

GameSpy: How many songs will make use of two-guitar harmonies?
Marcus: Oh, man, as many as we can to tell you the truth. That's one of the greatest things you can do, especially with the new function of co-op star power. You're gonna need both players to raise the guitar necks at the same time to activate star power, so you can have players going back to back, and twin guitar histrionics, and it's outta control.

We're very pleased with what we're getting. So many exciting songs have already been nailed down, and you'll get track lists at E3.

GameSpy: Is there an Iron Maiden track in Guitar Hero II? Marcus: No comment!

GameSpy: Here's some ideas for features in Guitar Hero II: How do you feel about a simple leaderboard system, where people can have their top scores and names listed?

Marcus: We're in between consoles now, and there are huge possibilities with Guitar Hero. Everyone's gonna be playing Live with the online marketplaces, and people love to go online and compare scores. This game absolutely lends itself to this, as well as co-op where a team shares a score, and tournaments. We're definitely looking into anything we can do online.

Is it just me, or had "No Comment" really taken the place of "I plead the 5th" as an admission of something without actually admitting to anything?

Exciting news, thanks for the update. I'll add this link to the GHII sticky.

Would've been interesting if they mentioned this site.

The idea of dual star power sounds awesome and incredibly frustrating at the same time. I know for a fact that when my star power doesn't go off at the right time when I'm playing alone, I'm upset, now imagine if I can blame someone else for it.

E3 still seems so far away.

What are you talking about? It is a little more than a week away and alot of the time you get information a few days in advance and you always get something the first day of the conference. I have wet dreams everytime E3 comes around especially with Kojima dishing out another helping of MGS4.
