Advantage to Seat 1 in head to head

My nephew and I wanted to see what would happen if we tied, so we played 'Sedated' on easy, didn't hit any SP and both got 100% scores. I beat him by two points, so we did the same thing with ILRR and the same thing happened again, I beat him by two points even though we both got 100% on our scores. Evidently, the person who starts the song as a two point advantage, in that they somehow have two more notes to play that the person sitting in the second seat. Anyone else out there have this same experience on other songs?

Maybe it depends on how quick you can hold the long notes, if you hold it on time instead of being, perhaps a couple of split seconds off, you may get them extra points

when you mean you win by 2 points, is it that your nephew has 30,000 and you have 30,002 or you win by 2 of the marker points, so you'd end up with 30,100?
