EDIX XX: September 22 2011 Holy Christ it's been a while since I updated this.

Not sure why I gave up on this thread. Partly because it was impossible to spot your own thread in the flood of others, partly because I got a job and couldn't play GH as much any more, partly because I just couldn't be arsed, partly because I didn't have a 360 and the newer games were abysmal on PS2 (something I've now rectified, hence more play).

Anyway. I now own virtually the whole collection; if it's got Guitar and Hero in its title (and isn't on the DS) I've got it. Band Hero too, which is pointless. Beaten GHWT (8 FCs; Pull Me Under is cool), GHM (Worst Guitar Hero Ever), GH5 (8 FCs), GHVH (blah) and GHWOR (funny, but stupid; reduxing the quest for domination, then I'll go for a few of the FCs - I sightread a few during the quest). Still GHGH and BH to go through before I've beaten the whole series.

36th GH2H FC was Crazy On You, which was cool enough I guess. Still need to 5* Beast And The Harlot to get me some Log on Expert.

EDIT XIX: January 10 2009 Long time no bump. Hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year.

The reason for no bump is that I've had nothing to bump for; I only really had a few GH2H reduxes, which weren't that interesting.

FC #35. I'd needed to deal with that one for ages (I had a 100% with overstrum after 1153 notes, which... sucked.)

GH3 has seen similarly little progress. Well, I've broken 6.5* on Down N Dirty, which is a cool song.

I also wrapped up this little bastard for FC #13; I don't know how many times I choked in the outro, but I'm guessing about... fifty.



And, having spent all that time teaching my housemate to play Guitar Hero so I could play the co-op exclusives, I suppose I ought to FC one of them.

Then GH1 time. Finally dealt with this bugger.



FC #8 after a lot of ending chokes.

I'm really bumping for this, though, which is my proudest achievement in forever.



FIVE STARS! OH YEAH! FUCK YOU OZZY, YOU PIECE OF SHIT! Finally managed to hit all the verses without overstrumming/understrumming/godonlyknowswhatstrumming, a couple of SP jinks, and a not-totally-shit final solo (I even hit 6x once!), and this finally happened. Damn game.

TTFAF Progress Report: Well, I can tap the intro now (11123 for GRYBO works for me, although I know it's a tad unorthodox); now it's just the rest of the song I need to deal with. I'm feeling around to get a grasp of which bits I probably need SP to pass (Bridge 1 and What The...?) and definitely don't (Bridge 2 and Synth Death), which means my best so far is 81% before failing (Twin Solo). If I can stop blowing Herman's Solo 2, I can catch the SP in that and not enter What The...? in the red; then I hopefully I won't need to SP through there and can save it for the Twin Solo instead. Herman 2 practice needed, methinks.

TL;DR version; I still suck.

EDIT XVIII: November 9 2008 This fucker has been giving me nightmares for ages; I kept blowing all three YB trills. Then I worked out why - they all follow immediately from BO holds, and I wasn't releasing the O fast enough. So, ditch the hold early, focus everything on the trill, use the worst star power path in existence (2-2-2-E1?!), and you get my 34th FC.

Also, I now have a Wiki page. It's not very interesting yet, and consists mostly of a port of this thread until such time as I can think of something decent to put in it (all suggestions welcome), but there it is. There's a link at the bottom of the post (where it says Wiki).

I don't like these guys. Laughtrack annoyed me too. I've also had an ovrstrum in the outro of I Wanna Be Sedated, which was annoying.

Besides that? Some boring GH2Hard reduxes, I've finally six-starred Carry Me Home (just Six to go!), and I've got a -2 on Trogdor which I hope to FC in a day or two.

A few other random improvements have got me to 221st on GH2H PS2. Which is nice.

I've been 2-2-3-3ing that - I'm planning to redux it with 3(S1)-3-3 to see if that's any better. (I don't read paths...)

And then this bitch. I couldn't FC this for ages - I was constantly overstrumming in the fast part, which resulted in some crappy scores. And then a crap final activation has resulted in this crappy score. Still, at least it's done.

TTFAF progress: yep, I need a new bête noire now I've beaten Raining Blood. And it's this fucker. I can tap the intro on everything up to Slow, but Full Speed just won't co-operate. I can't do the elbow strum right to start it off - I'm pretty sure that if I could sort that out I'd be through the intro easily enough. I'm attempting the one-handed start (12131412131411), but it's a git to pull off and persuade my hand to not try and stretch for the orange...

GH2H has been my main baby for a while - I keep meaning to leave it alone and deal with GH3X, but I just keep coming back to it, and...

GH2H has seen a lot of general improvements - there's now only two songs I haven't 6-starred (Carry Me Home can die in a fire, and Six would be there if I didn't keep blowing the star power at the end). 16.27 million and 231st will do for now, but I'll be back - check the list at the bottom of this post for the nearly FCs...

And then GH3X. Oh, boy, GH3X. This game can die in a fire - it's convinced me that there's no point buying GHWT until I've got a new console, because the PS2 version of this is horrendous. However, it still needs to be worked on, and thus:

Plus another 14 nearlys, which shows how little I've been working on it. My goals for this are targeted at getting me better at the songs I'm very average at, rather than having a hard core that I work on constantly. That hasn't stopped me finally 5*ing F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. at about the hundredth attempt, Before I Forget at the fiftieth and a lot of other miscellanies.

My other guitar (the Kramer) needs fixing - I took it apart to find out why the whammy refuses to work, and ended up making sure it won't (I've managed to pull the wires off the board - it needs soldering), so getting into the Co-Op exclusives will have to wait.

Raining Blood progress: well, I somehow spawned my way through Mosh 1 today, only to blow too many SP phrases and fail in the Flood at 92%. Yeah. I've scraped through the Mosh a couple more times since too, to negligible effect (died almost immediately in the first verse a couple of times), but at least I know I can get through it now. I swear I will beat this damn song...

EDIT XII: June 27 2008 A long overdue overstrum fix, and now I'm halfway there...

Also been trimming away at a couple of other things - moved the -3 in SCOM to the end of the solo instead of the start gaining another 20K, reduxed LTMR and Radium Eyes for 2K and 6K, held combo all the way to Solo B in The Light That Blinds (and promptly missed 14 notes) to get another 40K in that, and another 6K in PBFO (I remember when I couldn't pass that...)

The final one - 28K in Institutionalized - has now pushed me over the 16 million point mark (16,010,974).

As for Raining Blood... well, doublestrumming has now got me past Mosh 1 at long bloody last, but it still needs work.

EDIT IX: May 16 2008 The latest innovation to improve my scores seems to be more consistent strumming - I still can't double-strum for beans, but where I can downstrum everything I'm now holding the timing a bit better. So, fixing up a -1 and an overstrum:

This was completely unexpected, but what the hell. The net result is 15.4 million and 397th - there's now no reason why I can't push on for 16 million and top 250 fairly freely...

EDIT VIII: May 12 2008 You know the main reason I can't do Mosh 1 of Raining Blood? It's a terrible song. It's just noise. I can't make any connection between the buttons I'm pressing and the output in the song. It's awful. I can't stick with it enough to make any real effort; I went off and got three other FCs instead (WYWY, Talk Dirty To Me and Generation Rock).

So, I've moved house and gone back to GH2H again. This needs to stop happening.

Five days ago I was barely 1600th on Message In A Bottle - I couldn't do the Chorus A's for beans. Everything else was fine, just those damn bits. Came back after ages of GH3X, nailed them, and after a couple of days of choking...

Lousy SP - no attempt at a path - but it's an FC and that'll do for now.

Worked out a bit better how to cope with the Six choruses, which meant 199,927. (No pic.) I've finally 5-starred the fucker; at long last, I'm a GH2H God.

I've also ditched the overstrums in X-Stream, which gained me another 37k (still -2, though). Add on a few other miscellaneous improvements and I'm up to 446th. Which is nice.

Man, that one took forever. 42nd place and crap whammying - I really wanted 360k, and I nearly choked at the end (dropped the final GR sustain half way through!), but top fifty on any song is more than good enough for me.

-3 on Madhouse (mostly the YB-BO transitions in the choruses, and one flick in the solo). That song is annoying as hell to FC.

Also, a bit more play of FTK (man, that song is awful) bought me the 20k I needed to hit top 500 (499th at time of writing)! That was the goal I set for myself before I bugger off back to GH3 to fail at Raining Blood some more, so no more GH2H updates for a bit. Congruent with top 500 is 15M - I remember wondering if I would ever get past 12M...

Besides that? Some boring GH2Hard reduxes, I've finally six-starred Carry Me Home (just Six to go!), and I've got a -2 on Trogdor which I hope to FC in a day or two.

A few other random improvements have got me to 221st on GH2H PS2. Which is nice.

I've been 2-2-3-3ing that - I'm planning to redux it with 3(S1)-3-3 to see if that's any better. (I don't read paths...)

And then this bitch. I couldn't FC this for ages - I was constantly overstrumming in the fast part, which resulted in some crappy scores. And then a crap final activation has resulted in this crappy score. Still, at least it's done.

TTFAF progress: yep, I need a new bête noire now I've beaten Raining Blood. And it's this fucker. I can tap the intro on everything up to Slow, but Full Speed just won't co-operate. I can't do the elbow strum right to start it off - I'm pretty sure that if I could sort that out I'd be through the intro easily enough. I'm attempting the one-handed start (12131412131411), but it's a git to pull off and persuade my hand to not try and stretch for the orange...

GH2H has been my main baby for a while - I keep meaning to leave it alone and deal with GH3X, but I just keep coming back to it, and...

GH2H has seen a lot of general improvements - there's now only two songs I haven't 6-starred (Carry Me Home can die in a fire, and Six would be there if I didn't keep blowing the star power at the end). 16.27 million and 231st will do for now, but I'll be back - check the list at the bottom of this post for the nearly FCs...

And then GH3X. Oh, boy, GH3X. This game can die in a fire - it's convinced me that there's no point buying GHWT until I've got a new console, because the PS2 version of this is horrendous. However, it still needs to be worked on, and thus:

Plus another 14 nearlys, which shows how little I've been working on it. My goals for this are targeted at getting me better at the songs I'm very average at, rather than having a hard core that I work on constantly. That hasn't stopped me finally 5*ing F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. at about the hundredth attempt, Before I Forget at the fiftieth and a lot of other miscellanies.

My other guitar (the Kramer) needs fixing - I took it apart to find out why the whammy refuses to work, and ended up making sure it won't (I've managed to pull the wires off the board - it needs soldering), so getting into the Co-Op exclusives will have to wait.

Raining Blood progress: well, I somehow spawned my way through Mosh 1 today, only to blow too many SP phrases and fail in the Flood at 92%. Yeah. I've scraped through the Mosh a couple more times since too, to negligible effect (died almost immediately in the first verse a couple of times), but at least I know I can get through it now. I swear I will beat this damn song...

EDIT XII: June 27 2008 A long overdue overstrum fix, and now I'm halfway there...

Also been trimming away at a couple of other things - moved the -3 in SCOM to the end of the solo instead of the start gaining another 20K, reduxed LTMR and Radium Eyes for 2K and 6K, held combo all the way to Solo B in The Light That Blinds (and promptly missed 14 notes) to get another 40K in that, and another 6K in PBFO (I remember when I couldn't pass that...)

The final one - 28K in Institutionalized - has now pushed me over the 16 million point mark (16,010,974).

As for Raining Blood... well, doublestrumming has now got me past Mosh 1 at long bloody last, but it still needs work.

EDIT IX: May 16 2008 The latest innovation to improve my scores seems to be more consistent strumming - I still can't double-strum for beans, but where I can downstrum everything I'm now holding the timing a bit better. So, fixing up a -1 and an overstrum:

Then another 85k on One For The Road (another one for the -1 collection), a -2 on Madhouse (what is with that little Y-R-Y bit in Solo A? Why can't I hit it? It's easy! ) and then this bugger out of nowhere.

This was completely unexpected, but what the hell. The net result is 15.4 million and 397th - there's now no reason why I can't push on for 16 million and top 250 fairly freely...

EDIT VIII: May 12 2008 You know the main reason I can't do Mosh 1 of Raining Blood? It's a terrible song. It's just noise. I can't make any connection between the buttons I'm pressing and the output in the song. It's awful. I can't stick with it enough to make any real effort; I went off and got three other FCs instead (WYWY, Talk Dirty To Me and Generation Rock).

So, I've moved house and gone back to GH2H again. This needs to stop happening.

Five days ago I was barely 1600th on Message In A Bottle - I couldn't do the Chorus A's for beans. Everything else was fine, just those damn bits. Came back after ages of GH3X, nailed them, and after a couple of days of choking...

The next worst was 1300th or so on WWIMRLN. I've now found another 50k on that.

Then it was 1200th-ish on Last Child. One run as a sighter to remember how it goes, and the second attempt...

Lousy SP - no attempt at a path - but it's an FC and that'll do for now.

Worked out a bit better how to cope with the Six choruses, which meant 199,927. (No pic.) I've finally 5-starred the fucker; at long last, I'm a GH2H God.

I've also ditched the overstrums in X-Stream, which gained me another 37k (still -2, though). Add on a few other miscellaneous improvements and I'm up to 446th. Which is nice.

Man, that one took forever. 42nd place and crap whammying - I really wanted 360k, and I nearly choked at the end (dropped the final GR sustain half way through!), but top fifty on any song is more than good enough for me.

-3 on Madhouse (mostly the YB-BO transitions in the choruses, and one flick in the solo). That song is annoying as hell to FC.

Also, a bit more play of FTK (man, that song is awful) bought me the 20k I needed to hit top 500 (499th at time of writing)! That was the goal I set for myself before I bugger off back to GH3 to fail at Raining Blood some more, so no more GH2H updates for a bit. Congruent with top 500 is 15M - I remember wondering if I would ever get past 12M...

I haven't played gh2 in a LONG time, and the last time I did I was pretty bad at the game, so I really can't tell which songs are harder to 5* these days, but I would have thought that Institutionalized or something would be pretty hard to 5* too.
