Has anyone else played the new rhythm game "Phase" by Harmonix? It's an iPod game, and it's really lots of fun.
If you don't know about it, here's a brief description:
Phase is the newest rhythm game released by Harmonix, and is available only for the iPod. It's very Guitar Hero-esque in that while you listen to music, you must accurately hit notes that scroll down a track using the Rewind, Select, and Fast Forward buttons on the iPod (3 different notes). One of the major selling points of the game is that the music you play to is music from your iTunes music library. Just add the songs you want to play to your Phase playlist (with iTunes 7.5 or higher), sync your iPod, and play!
I personally have put all the songs from Guitar Hero 1-3 (including the 80s) on it and it's loads of fun.
There's a few things I wish would have been better though. The BPM usually is pretty accurate, but sometimes it can go way off the beat, and the notes just stop making sense. Also, the difficulty jump from Expert to Insane leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. One would think that increasing the difficulty would mean adding more notes and sweeps to make the song more challenging, but it doesn't. Instead, you're just asked to play the expert tracks more accurately. Not to say that doesn't make it challenging, but there's just something very rewarding about pulling off a ridiculous button combination, and that is lacking on the insane difficulty.
But to end this on a good note - this game is by far the best game for the iPod that's out there. It's really fun, really satisfying, and I'm glad I finally have a game to play along with my music. _________________

It is fun... but it eats up the battery life like it's nothing.
Learned the other day that there is a 1000 song limit. Booooo. _________________

The Search button is your friend.
Heck, sometimes you might even want to look a few inches down the screen to see if the topic has already been posted... |

I just downloaded it, but haven't had a chance to play it.
What exactly are you playing. The guitar parts? the drum parts? or is it just like DDR that you follow the rhythm? I am buying a few songs just for that game. (Dragonforce and eruption if it is guitar) _________________

Are they still selling ipod games for 5 bucks? I don't buy ipod games because I've always thought they were too expensive, but I might make an exception for this one. |
